PHYSICAL SCIENTIST

This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the Professional work category are at the Full Performance work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. POSITIVE EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
This position has a positive education requirement. 1301 PHYSICAL SCIENTIST A. Degree:
physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. OR B. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. AND SPECIALIZED

Quality experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of creditable experience include extensive knowledge in the concepts and principles of physics, nuclear sciences, radiation measurements, gamma spectroscopy, radioactive decay schemes and the use of established nuclear measurement constants. Knowledge must be both broad and in-depth. Well-honed skills in nuclear analysis techniques and data quality is required. In-depth knowledge in UNIX, SQL, and NiFi is highly desired. Note:

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Extensive knowledge in the concepts and principles of physics, nuclear sciences, radiation measurements, gamma spectroscopy, radioactive decay schemes and the use of established nuclear measurement constants. Knowledge must be both broad and in-depth. Well-honed skills in nuclear analysis techniques and data quality is required. In-depth knowledge in UNIX, SQL, and NiFi is highly desired. 2. Knowledge and understanding of the United States Atomic Energy Detection System (USAEDS) and the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) International Monitoring System (IMS) and International Data Center (IDC). 3. Ability to analyze conflicting information from multiple sources and work well in an operational time-critical environment. 4. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work well with peers, and supervisors, as well as matrixed support from outside organizations. 5. Knowledge of security procedures to maintain control of classified information. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
