Summary This is a senior level handyman position with the responsibility of performing minor repairs to the homes of Brevard County seniors.
The maintenance and repairs provided by this service enable seniors to remain safely in their homes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform minor repairs and maintenance as assigned.
Contact clients to schedule services in accordance with assigned work orders.
Complete on-site assessments to determine the scope of work as assigned Estimate cost and man-hours needed to complete job Ensure that client attests to the ownership of the property to be repaired.
Obtain written approval prior to beginning work Complete repair work as outlined in the work order Total the actual cost and man-hours the job required Obtain client's signature to signify satisfaction and acceptance of completed work Maintain accurate records of daily work activities in accordance with program requirements Maintain a record of daily mileage and complete mileage logs in accordance with program requirements Prioritize client work orders to ensure timely services to clients most at-risk Ensure timely retrieval, completion and submission of required program documentation.
Properly store and maintain program equipment.
Be responsive to opportunities to advance public knowledge about programs and services offered through Aging Matters Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate by and/or Housing Improvement Supervisor, Program Director, or President/CEO.
Education/Experience Requirements High school diploma or GED preferred Excellent facility with common hand and power tools Experience performing basic residential repairs and maintenance Literacy and Numeracy skills sufficient to check delivery notes, measurements etc.
Working knowledge of health and safety procedures and precautions for the basic trades industry Experience working with seniors preferred Time Allocation for Duties Refer to most recent grant application, if applicable.
Skills/Competency Requirements Must be able to communicate well Must be honest, mature and exhibit good judgment Must be organized and able to work independently Must have reliable transportation, automobile insurance, driver's license, and the ability to travel Must be able to work with machinery or move heavy equipment MUST wear appropriate personal protection equipment and follow safety rules at all times.
Must know and implement ladder safety techniques Must be willing to uphold company standards for safety, service and efficiency Must be resourceful and self-motivated Must be able to resolve problems Must be flexible and able to effectively manage change Must be able to lift up to approximately 100 pounds at any given time Emergency Disaster Assistance As part of the obligation of Aging Matters in Brevard being a lead agency serving elders, all employees, unless otherwise specified, may be required to be available prior to, during and post disaster.
Assignments, as required, will be issued in accordance with directives from Senior Resource Alliance, Brevard County Government and Aging Matters in Brevard Administration.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
