This position is responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the non-profit's mission and objectives.
Key
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement financial plans, budgets, tax returns, and forecasts in collaboration with the agency's management team.
Analyze financial data and performance against budget, presenting insights and recommendations to the Executive Director.
Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and reporting standards.
Oversee the financial aspects of grant applications, monitoring, and reporting Collaborate with program managers to ensure proper allocation and utilization of funds according to grant requirements.
Monitor cash flow and manage liquidity to ensure the organization's financial health.
implement an effective cash flow forecasting system.
Establish and maintain internal control policies and procedures to safeguard organizational assets.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
Coordinate external audits and work closely with auditors to provide necessary documentation and explanations.
Implement recommendations from audits to enhance financial processes and controls.
Engage with the Executive Director and finance committee of the Board of Directors, providing monthly updates on financial performance and strategic financial matters.
Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop financial policies and strategies aligned with the organization's mission Lead and mentor the Financial Specialist, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
Conduct regular training to enhance the financial acumen of non-finance staff members.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Master's degree and/or CPA preferred.
3-5 years minimum proven experience in financial management, preferably in a non-profit organization.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.
Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to translate financial concepts to - and to effectively collaborate with -- programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds.
